Logan at Three Months

Logan is now three months (and a few days) old--officially not a newborn anymore! She remains the calmest, easiest-to-please baby ever, and has recently begun sleeping 10.5-12 hour stretches at night without waking or feeding. As she's graduated from the newborn stage, she has begun to have a more regular schedule. A typical day goes like this: wake up around 8:30 am, feed, play time, nap around 10 or 10:15 (this nap usually lasts 1-1.5 hours), wake, a little play, feed, more play, nap around 1:30 (this nap usually lasts 2.5-3 hours, but has been as short as 2 hours and as long as almost 4 hours), wake, feed, play, feed, catnap (sometimes in the stroller on family walk around the neighborhood), nightly activities (bath every few days, 1:1 time with daddy, some holding, maybe some more feeding), then bedtime around 8:30 pm. Phew!

Now that we've got her on a good schedule, I'm minimizing nap time outings and having her nap in her room as much as possible. I close the curtains, turn on her sound machine, and zip her up in her arms-up swaddle every time, and it works like a charm for getting her to sleep. Since Logan sleeps so well at night and during the day, she really seems to like eating around the clock in the evenings... I'm okay with that since it's working out well for us. Feeds on usually via nursing, but we make sure she gets at least one bottle of pumped milk each day (usually the morning feed, done by Monica, so I can drop Mitch off at work). She's definitely a good eater, as evidenced by her chubby legs, cheeks, and double chin. :) We weighed her at home the other night, and she was 14 lbs 15 oz! Solid, indeed!

This past month (and really, mostly the past couple of weeks), Logan has really grown to love her play mat, with its musical and flashing star light and hanging toys. She will just look up and smile like her star friend is the best thing ever. She also has begun to truly smile in reaction to our voices and playful actions. It's super cute, and never gets old. It's been really fun seeing Logan start to react more to the world around her, and it's exciting to know it'll just get more fun from here.
