One and a Half!
Our little guys are now one and a half years old! Noah and Micah had their 18 month check-up the other day and both got good reports. They both weigh a little over 27 pounds, which is between 75-85th percentiles depending on which chart you use, and they were both just shy of 36 inches tall! That puts them off the chart for height. Mitch and I had been marveling recently at how long they seemed, and their measurements just confirmed that again. At their check-up, the doctor also said that everything seemed healthy and that they were developing well with their words and behaviors. Excellent! They also got four shots each...not excellent, but no side effects and only a couple minutes of crying. Not much seems to phase these boys, and we are lucky for it.
Favorite words now are "nana" for banana and "car" (still), "choo choo", "shoes", "more" and "wa-wa" for water. They know that sheep make a "baa" sound and have started mimicking this. In fact, they both are loving their stuffed sheep toys lately, and will actually lay still for diaper changes when sheepies are nearby. They definitely have favorite toys and books now, and aren't too keen to share them with one another. Luckily, there are plenty of good toys and books to go around. They seem to really like stuffed animals and trains right now, so I'm excited to see how they like their Christmas gifts this year. They will probably not like anything more than they like big, empty boxes. Boxes are awesome to Noah and Micah right now. They're great for pushing, great for climbing, great for quiet time... Thanks, Amazon, for the amazing boxes!
The boys have been enjoying weekly play dates with another set of boy twins, and have also expanded their social calendar to singleton tots. ;) We got a monthly membership to Davidson Playhouse, which is walking distance, for a nice indoor play space outside of the house during the winter months. Speaking of winter, since it gets colder here than it does in California, we got the boys proper winter puffy coats. Grey for Micah and blue for Noah, of course. The shorter days mean less time outside once the sun sets, and more time playing inside their most expensive toys: the minivan and the SUV. They just love playing in our cars, and if it keeps them entertained then so be it.
All in all, it's a very cute and wonderful stage that the boys are in right now. They are learning so much and understanding more of what we say and how to communicate back. They're also starting to play well together, and that's just what we want to see for these future lifelong BFFs.
