A Fun Weekend
This past weekend, we had a really good time, despite some sniffles when Micah woke up on Sunday. It all started on Friday after work, when the boys ran around the yard in their matching swim suits. Noah and Micah really like sitting on low stoops and window sills, and we found them just chilling on the step in the garage, looking like they were up to no good. And sometimes, they are up to no good, with standing on the step and trying to step off of it like big people. They're getting braver and more adventurous as they explore the world, so we definitely have to keep an eye out for their safety.
After playing outside, it was time for some books with dada while mama got dinner together. The boys like to jockey over real estate in our laps.
On Saturday morning, I got up "early" (6:15) to run a local 10k around the greenway trails of Davidson. Mitch took care of getting the boys up, fed, and dressed, and then walked down to the village green to meet up with me after I was done. It was the longest I'd run in almost two years (pregnancy and beyond), and the run went well! It's nice to have exercise and fitness as part of my routine again, and I'm glad that our lifestyle allows for me to get that time to myself.

After the race, we hit up the farmers market to see and be seen, as is the point of the Davidson Farmers Market, it seems.
After the fun in downtown Davidson, we headed home, and I went to a Lake Norman Moms of Multiples luncheon at a member's house. Mitch was great doing dad duty pretty much all of Saturday morning; thanks! The luncheon was fun, and it was nice to chat with other twin moms over some yummy homemade food.
Once the boys were up from their nap, we headed to Birkdale Village for some shopping, splash pad fun, and dinner at a burger restaurant. The boys had a lot of fun playing in a splash pad for the first time. The folks sitting around the splash pad enjoyed seeing our two boys running around too. :) Dinner at the restaurant was awesome. The boys LOVED the food (of course they would; they had kids meals of chicken tenders, grilled cheese, sweet potato fries, and fruit), and we enjoyed not having to cook or clean up. We're lucky that it's not hard to take the boys out to eat, and I'm looking forward to more meals out with them.
On Sunday, I had the boys for breakfast time so that Mitch could go work out at the College track. The boys really enjoy "cleaning" with the broom and swiffer, so I let them have their fun after breakfast was over (and after I'd done the real cleaning).

After Mitch was back and showered, we headed to the park for a little bit, and got to see a lot of other kids and parents. Then it was time for lunch, their nap, and then an experiment in babysitting featuring almost 14 year old twin girls who live on our street. They're trying to get into babysitting, like their older sisters, so we had them over for an hour to play with the boys while Mitch did some chores and I went to our friends' two year old's birthday party (we decided not to all go since the boys had runny noses). While the twin girls have a lot to learn, it was at least a starting point for them and for the boys meeting them. :P
We closed out our fun weekend with a neighborhood walk, a dinner that was a hit with the boys (quinoa cakes), and another long night of sleep for the boys. Looking forward to getting through the work week so we can do it all over again!
