Birthdays and Bon Voyage

This is quite belated, but it's been a busy couple of months and I was hoping to get a few more photos from the party. Anyway, back in early June, we had a big party to celebrate the boys' 1st birthday and to also say "bon voyage" to our Bay Area friends. It was such a fun, but bittersweet party. We hired a food truck, Senor Sisig, and a frozen custard cart to cater the party--brilliant idea, as the food was delicious, there was easy set-up and clean-up, and it was a way to go out with a big bang. The boys didn't have the best time at the party at first. It might have been a little overwhelming to have so many people around them all at once. However, once Norma and her family showed up, they were whisked away and cared for, and ended up being happier for it. Norma's last day working for us was the day before the party, and we'd had a teary good-bye then. She was so sad to be saying good-bye to the babies (who were napping when she left), and to also say good-bye to Mitch and me. At the party, after many teary good-byes with our friends, we had to say good-bye all over again with Norma. It was the saddest thing and I'm tearing up just typing about it. She would hold each baby and whisper a blessing in their eye, give them kisses, and say, "when you look up at the sky, think of Norma." TEARS!!!

Anyway, it was really a great party, and the best way to say good-bye to many of our friends. Hopefully, we will get to keep in touch with everyone through e-mails, texts, and social media, and some day, we'll be back in the Bay to see everyone too.
