10 Months (and then some)!
It's been a crazy month, with packing, traveling, and selling our house, so blog posts have taken a backseat. The boys are now 10.5 months, and are changing so much! Here is a general update for their 10 and 10.5 month milestones.
The boys celebrated their ten months birthday in Phoenix, where we were staying for a week while Mitch had a conference (and painting, staging, etc were going on at our house). Unfortunately, we did not have their monogrammed towels for their monthly photo and settled for one on the carpet. :P
Micah started crawling on all fours right when ten months hit. He had been mobile before that with rolling and some army crawling, but progressed a lot when we were in Phoenix and later Davidson. It was too bad the condos we were renting were not baby-proofed, but for the most part, we were able to keep the babies out of trouble. Once he discovered his mobility, Micah was all over the place. The world is a very interesting place to babies, and nothing can escape being smacked, licked, or gnawed on by this guy and his brother. Now that we're back home, Micah has learned to pull-up to standing and is starting to practice taking steps. Sometimes, he'd rather be practicing these skills than taking his naps, so nap time is a little more difficult these days, as one would expect.
Noah is starting to crawl now, but isn't quite as good as Micah yet. He's a pro at sitting up by himself and also wants to pull up. We can no longer keep the baby monitor camera resting in his crib ledge! Also, we lowered both cribs for the boys' safety, though it makes it tougher on mama to pick them up now. Both boys now sleep on their tummies, and have readjusted to California time after a week on the East Coast.
The boys each have two bottom teeth and one top tooth, with a couple more on the way soon. With these teeth, they are enjoying more and more finger foods, though they still eat their mashed avocados and pureed fruits & veggies. Recent favorite foods: cut up spaghetti, eggs scrambled with cheese, fancy pain au lait (with or without duck fat and herbs) for Fournee, pulled pork, and freeze dried blueberries. They still nurse in the morning, have two bottles during the work day (at 11 am and 3:30 or 4 pm, depending on their afternoon nap), and nurse at bedtime, and also have meals at 8:30 am, 12:30 or 1 pm, and 6:15 pm. They're starting to drink less milk for their 11 am bottle, so Norma only offers them 5 oz at that feeding now.
They both got sick with colds before and during our trip (especially Noah when we were in Davidson), and weren't too happy about it. But once they got over it, they were back to being our happy little boys.
That's it for now. I'll post about our trip soon!
