Six Months!
It's been a crazy wonderful half-year with our two boys. They are getting more active and more playful with each passing day. They love to laugh at mama and dada when they make funny noises and tickle them. They also love it when Norma, their nanny, plays with them and sings them songs in Spanish. They really are very happy babies with easy temperaments, and we are sooo lucky for this.

Over the past few weeks, Noah and Micah have been sleeping pretty well, getting between 10.5-12 hours of sleep each night. Some nights are uninterrupted; some nights we have to go in to flip Micah after he wakes up on his tummy and doesn't like it. The boys generally don't wake each other up with their noises at night, which is great. They wake up around 6:30, eat, and have play time. Then they take a long-ish morning nap between 8:30 and 10 (plus or minus a half hour), at which point they have a 6 ounce bottle of milk (sometimes more!). Then they play more and go on a walk, and have "lunch" when they return. They have tried out lots of foods now and seem to like it all: rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, mashed avocados, peas, sweet potatoes, mashed bananas, and butternut squash. After lunch and some more play time, they go down for their second nap, which is in the 1-2 hour range depending on the first nap's length. Then they get their second 6 ounce bottle (or nurse if I'm at home) and more play time. Sometimes they'll go down for a catnap before I get home from work, or sometimes they'll fall asleep for a catnap when I nurse them around 5:00. They're not quite ready to drop down to two naps. Around 5:45, we will feed the twins some "dinner" of solids, then play until we get ready for bed. They get nursed one last time and are down in bed by 7:00. They are great at going to bed on their own now, though half the time they fall asleep while nursing. Anything works as long as they're happy and sleeping well!

Noah is discovering his voice more and more, and is starting to squeal and then laugh at his own noises. He likes to say, "whoa whoa whoa," and is becoming a bigger fan of "b" sounds and blowing raspberries. He is still not keen on rolling, though we know he can roll from tummy to back. I think he's just waiting to figure out crawling and will skip rolling altogether, perhaps. He seems to sit up better than Micah, though neither boy is sitting up completely unassisted yet. We had to postpone their six month appointment due to some traveling, but when we weighed and measured Noah at home, he weighed in at approximately 19.5 pounds and 27.5 inches. This keeps Noah around the 75th percentiles for weight and height.

Micah remains our big, strong baby, weighing about 20 pounds and measuring 28 inches long. That puts in the 80+th percentile for weight and 90+th percentile for height. He just started doing full rolls, from back to tummy to back again. He can lift himself up on his arms pretty high, so we've lowered the boys' cribs to the middle setting for safety. He just learned to pull on his chair's play bar to play the music (which Noah mastered a week or two ago), so we will be hearing an electronic "Skip to my Lou" jingle a lot now. Micah is not as vocal as Noah, but will definitely babble to himself or to anyone around him for fun.

It's been fun to see the boys' personalities, similarities, and differences become more apparent as they grow older. We can't wait to see what the next month has in store for us! Definitely more baby proofing around the house!
