22 Months!

It's been a couple of busy months, and I'm sorry to have skipped out on my blogging duties. Luckily, there's some time today to take a break and post some updates and photos!

Noah and Micah are 22 months old, and just two months away from being two year olds! At that point, we will no longer refer to their ages in months, though it might be hard to break the habit. Ha! Since our last update, there have been a couple of weekends with Mitch away, a couple of weekends with visitors, a time change, and a cross-country trip to Oakland (more on that later)! While some aspects of solo parenting can be challenging, at the end of the day, the boys do just fine and everyone goes to bed happy, fed, and ready to snooze until the morning.

Honestly, there haven't been too many major changes in the past two months. Of course, they've learned new words and are learning specific friends' names. They're still mostly on the same schedule, though nap times can get pushed back (occasionally, Noah has skipped his nap and gotten rest time in his crib instead). One of the biggest changes that I've noticed in the past couple of weeks is the boys' ability to pretend play. Sometimes, they will take a piece of bread, call is a "truck", and start making "vroom vroom" noises while moving the "truck" around the table. Another example it taking some toy canned food and a toy spoon or spatula, and "eating pasta" or "feeding pasta" to one of us parents. It's been really cool to see this development in them.

Noah is still our more pensive child, and he's developed a real knack for putting together paired puzzle pieces. He also will examine situations more thoughtfully, and look for feedback or consequences. He is quite particular about things being in order, and will spend time to line up his cars or the bath toys, even if he just plans to bat them all down and do it again. Noah is also more likely to be possessive and want very specific toys/books. For a long time, Noah would insist on whomever was holding him at bedtime to also be holding our "Goodnight, Moon" book. It's gotten to the point where if the person who's holding Micah is holding the book, even Micah will take the book and give it to the parent holding Noah. He will sometimes steal things from Micah, which can cause trouble. I think that Noah is starting to feel more emotions, and it can leave him unsettled at times. He's still a very playful and loving boy, even if some terrible two's elements are starting to appear.

Micah is better about sharing and is more easily convinced to play with something different. He is still our more adventurous and physical child, and is so strong. He isn't always the best at listening to directions about not jumping or not running or not standing in the bathtub. He just wants to have fun and play. Since he is more outgoing than Noah, he seems less likely to get bothered when things aren't a certain way. It is rare that Micah meets a stuffed animal that he does not want to kiss. He is sweet like that.
