Noah and Micah officially have a "2" leading their double digit monthly "birthday." They are becoming more and more like little boys, and it seems like every day, they're saying a new word. Mitch and I have started keeping a list of words that they say with meaning, and we've reached 35. Current favorites are "Elmo" (I guess they've been paying attention when we've been reading their Elmo books, since they've never seen Sesame Street!), "white rice" (which is hilarious...how did they know there's a choice between white and brown rice?), and "nariz" (Spanish for "nose"). The boys have done well to learn some body parts, in a mixture of English ("mouth", "eyes", and "toes") and Spanish ("dedo", "mano", "nariz", "cabeza").
The boys' day-to-day life remains pretty much the same. Out of bed at 7:30, breakfast at 8, some kind of activity at 9:30, followed by lunch and a two hour nap around 1 or 1:30. Once they're up, it's time for playing and snacking until mama and dada get home. Perhaps their favorite part of the day is bubble bath time, where recently, they've started "swimming" by laying in the water on their tummies and kicking. Silly boys. Reading books and playing with trucks, cars, and choo-choos are still popular activities around here. It's been pretty nice weather-wise, so trips to the park are also a regularly scheduled activity again, and so are evening pre-dinner walks around the neighborhood with their push cars. The boys still favor rice, yogurt, eggs, pasta, cheese, and avocados, but have been better about eating meat. We've started giving them little treats, like homemade pumpkin muffins or simple cookies, like Trader Joe's chocolately cats (which, honestly, I bought for Mitch and myself, but then the boys tried them and they became their snack).
Lately, Noah likes to play a version of "hide and seek", where he will crouch down under the kitchen table, lay next to the coffee, or crawl under the train table, and wait for us to say "where's Noah? Have you seen Noah? Noah?" Then he will crawl out or peep his head out, and start giggling. This may be followed by chasing him around while we all laugh hysterically. Noah sometimes has a fake, deep laugh, but when he gets going, his true baby laugh comes out. :) I'm glad that he's enjoying his little hide and seek games, and figuring out what he thinks is fun.
Micah, on the other hand, would rather play a game of "climb onto the tables and try to stand", which we, of course, discourage. Sometimes, Noah will follow Micah's lead and also try to climb onto tables. Our betting money is on Micah being the first one to try to climb out of his crib...hopefully, not anytime soon! While Micah can be a little dare-devilish, he balances this out with his softer, more cuddly side. He loves all stuffed animals and will hold on tight and give them kisses. He has also approached one of our friends he sees often and given her a hug. He really is a sweet boy (and so is Noah). We love our little munchkins and can't wait to see what the coming days/weeks/months bring!
