Noah and Micah are 8.5 months old today! Every day, they are more and more like little boys instead of babies. They aren't crawling yet, but are doing some army crawling (especially Micah) and wiggling around to get to toys or something/someone of interest. They like sitting on the floor and reaching for toys...and stealing toys from one another. Lately, the maracas have been a big hit, though it's only a matter of time before they smack themselves in the face while shaking it. Noah has fun jumping up from seated on your leg to get to a standing position in front of the sofa or ottoman. He prefers sitting and standing so much more than laying on his back, and will whine if you place him on his back now, even during diaper changes. Micah also had a short phase where he would protest being placed down on the changing table. I've read (in The Wonder Weeks app) that this is normal baby behavior, so I don't get worried about that sort of thing.
They are still sleeping 11-12 hours most nights, though sometimes we'll hear one make noises for a bit before going back to being quiet. We don't get out of bed and check on them, unless something seems off. Last week was a little anomolous with sleeping and their general demeanor. This made more sense once it was apparent that the boys both were battling some sort of illness at the end of theweek. Noah had a low fever and less of an appetite on Thursday, and seemed to be a bit cranky. Norma kept up updated about Noah, and he seemed okay until he wasn't, early Friday afternoon. Both Mitch and I went home early to care for them with our nanny. As soon as we got home, Micah also began crying in pain. It seemed like they were both having constipation pain, mixed in with some congestion and fevers. Poor little guys. Surprisingly, they slept 12 hours straight on Friday night and woke up in better moods on Saturday. They were still a little out of it over the weekend, but it was nothing that some snuggles, infant Motrin, and outdoor distractions couldn't control. It was tough to see the babies feeling sick, but we all managed just fine. Just a taste of the things to come, I'm sure, when it comes to sick babies/kiddos.
